Leadership as stewardship

The value of an opportunity is the responsibility it creates, and what becomes possible for others because of it.

I try to build things that stay useful after I've left the room. A society that outlasts its founders. A company that widens access for the next student, not just this one. An award, named for my grandfather, that finds the child I used to be.

Build structures that remain useful once you are no longer holding them up.

Stewardship is just that, repeated: leave more possibility behind than you found.
